Delhi's Family Court has given an important decision in the divorce case of the Indian team's star batsman Shikhar Dhawan and his wife Ayesha Mukherjee. The court has approved the divorce, declaring Shikhar Dhawan entitled to divorce on the grounds of mental cruelty. While giving the decision to end Shikhar Dhawan's 11-year-old marriage, the court said that both parties had agreed on divorce by mutual consent, there was no dispute in it. Their marriage ended long ago and both have not living as husband and wife since August 8, 2020.
Delhi's Family Court, while approving the allegations made in Shikhar Dhawan's petition, said that Ayesha did not either protest or fail to defend herself. Judge Harish Kumar admitted that Ayesha Mukherjee forced Shikhar Dhawan to undergo mental torture by keeping his son Zorawar away from him for a year.
Shikhar Dhawan had also filed a petition in the court regarding the custody of his son Zoravar, saying that it is not morally, psychologically, and mentally right for his minor son to live with Ayesha. The court has not yet given any decision on the permanent custody of son Zorawar. However, Shikhar Dhawan can spend time with his son in India and Australia and can also make video calls.
The court also said that the petitioner is an international player and the pride of the country. If he asks for help from the Indian Government or if he asks for the custody or visitation rights of his son from the Australian Government, then he should be helped. Let us tell you that Shikhar Dhawan had said in his petition that Ayesha Mukherjee had earlier talked about coming and living with him in India. But, she later reneged on her promise due to her commitment to her ex-husband.
