Shardul Thakur remained unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, hit the jackpot
Shardul Thakur Joins LSG: Shardul Thakur, who remained unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has got lucky. Lucknow Super Giants have included Shardul Thakur in the team by signing him for Rs 2 crore in place of injured Mohsin Khan.

All-rounder Shardul Thakur remained unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction. None of the franchises purchased him in the auction process, but the moment the IPL kicked in, the franchise Lucknow Super Giants signed Shardul Thakur into the squad for Rs 2 crore. Shardul has been brought into the squad in the spot that belonged to the left-arm fast bowler Mohsin Khan. It has been reported that Mohsin is injured and out for IPL 2025.
Shardul Thakur went unsold in the previous year's big auction. He has played 95 IPL matches for five franchises so far: Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Punjab Kings (formerly Punjab Kings), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Rising Pune Supergiants (defunct). He has picked up 67 wickets at an economy of 8.89 in these matches.
According to the IPL statement, experienced all-rounder Thakur has been signed by LSG from the Registered Available Players List (RAPP) at his base price of Rs 2 crore. He has performed well in all three formats for India, and his experience will also be valuable in the IPL. After remaining unsold in the auction, Shardul signed a seven-match County Championship contract for England's Essex team at the start of the 2025 season. However, now he will have to stay with LSG to play in the IPL, due to which that contract may be canceled.
Actually, Mohsin Khan suffered a serious knee injury during the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December last year. He joined the LSG pre-season camp but suffered a calf injury while bowling in the nets, due to which he had to be ruled out of the tournament. At the same time, Shardul is currently with the LSG team in Visakhapatnam. Where the LSG team will play its first match in IPL 2025 against Delhi Capitals on Monday.
