Pakistan has made a strong hold against Bangladesh in the first Test match. By the end of the third day's play, Bangladesh has scored 316 runs for the loss of five wickets. At stumps, Mushfiqur Rahim returned unbeaten after scoring 55 and Liton Das 52. Bangladesh is still 132 runs behind Pakistan's first innings.

Bangladesh resumed play at 27 runs ahead on the third day. Pakistan got their first success soon when Zakir Hasan became Naseem Shah's victim, having scored 12 runs. None other than skipper Nazmul Hasan Shanto did much as he also fell to Khurram Shahzad after scoring 16 runs.

But the makeshift opener Shadman Islam, standing at one end, maintained the run rate and before going to the lunch break, Shadman completed his half-century by hitting a four off Naseem Shah. Islam got good support from Mominul Haque. Aggregating a personal score of 50, Mominul Haque was unfortunate against Khurram Shahzad and lost his wicket.

After that, Shadman got the support of Mushfiqur Rahim. However, before going to the tea break, Shadman lost his wicket. He missed his century by 7 runs and became the victim of Mohammad Ali on a score of 93. Shakib Al Hasan did not get a run from his bat and he became the victim of Sam Ayub after scoring 15 runs.

For five hours, the Pakistan fast bowling attack really hassled the Bangladesh batsmen. However, Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das played carefully after the fall of five wickets and didn't let the team suffer any further loss. Both the batsmen completed their half-centuries and played patiently to take the team's score beyond 300. Khurram took two wickets for Pakistan.
