Sex Worker Murder Case: Karnataka High Court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment, this is how the crime was committed

Karnataka High Court has sentenced the accused to life imprisonment for murdering a sex worker. The High Court canceled the release order of the lower court.

A bench headed by Justice HB Prabhakar Shastri and Justice Anil B Katti passed the order on Thursday. The police had challenged the order of the Mysore Sessions Court in the High Court.

The accused has been identified as KC Girish. He is a resident of Koramenahalli in Mandya district. The accused had taken the victim to a hotel in Mysore on September 18, 2010. He had booked a room on his own and told that they were a couple.

Police said that the accused strangled the woman to death in the hotel room itself and fled with her jewelry, phone, and some cash. Later, he mortgaged the jewelry for money.

This matter came to light the next day after the woman's murder. Lashkar police station officials arrested the accused and exposed the matter. In this regard, a charge sheet was also filed against the accused in the local court. However, the Sessions Court acquitted the accused in the case, following which he was released from jail on 25 April 2016.

The police challenged the order of the Sessions Court in the High Court, where the bench sentenced the accused to life imprisonment. However, the court dropped the rape charges against him.
