A serial bomb blast took place at a convention center on Sunday, the last day of a three-day prayer meeting in Ernakulam, Kerala. According to the information received so far, one person has died so far. At the same time, more than 20 people were injured. According to Kalamseri police, the blast occurred when many people had gathered for a prayer meeting. According to the police, the first blast occurred around 9 a.m. Over the next few minutes, blasts occurred one after another.
Sunday was the last day of the three-day prayer meeting. According to officials, about two thousand people were gathered in the prayer meeting when the blasts took place. Kerala Health Minister Veena George K said that she has alerted all the hospitals regarding the Kalamassery blast. Also, all the health workers who were on leave have been asked to return to work immediately.
At present, no official statement has been issued by Kerala Police regarding the blast. But an official said that after the explosion at 9 a.m., the police started receiving calls for help. Immediately the police team reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations along with the local people. After the explosion, hundreds of people gathered to help the police.
Local people have told that today was the last day of the three-day program at the convention center. More than two thousand people were present in the hall when the blast occurred. Eyewitnesses have claimed that 3-4 blasts took place one after the other in which many people were injured.
After the incident, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the phone and learned about the situation in the state after the bomb blast at a convention center. According to news agency ANI, Home Minister Amit Shah has also directed NIA and NSG to reach the spot and investigate the incident.
