Second stampede in 5 days at Chandrababu Naidu's meeting: 3 people died in Guntur, 8 people lost their lives in Nellore on December 28
TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu's program in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur witnessed another stampede on Sunday. Three people died in the incident. Guntur SP Arif Hafeez said that 13 were injured in the accident. According to information, the incident took place when a large number of people had gathered for the Sankranti Kanuka distribution (free ration kit distribution) program at Vikas Nagar in Guntur. Naidu was also present in the programme. Shortly after they left, a stampede broke out. All the injured are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
This is the second incident in Andhra in the last five days. Earlier on December 28, there was a stampede at Chandrababu's program in Nellore, in which 8 people including a woman were killed. At the same time, 10 people were injured.
Addressing the program before the accident, Chandrababu Naidu said that my life is dedicated to the poor, and I am here for their upliftment. During this, he targeted Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and said that the CM has no knowledge about the administration. At the same time, after the incident, he expressed grief over the accident. He announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.
Guntur residents Gopidesi Ramadevi, 50, Aashiya, 35, and an unidentified woman, 40, were killed in the accident. Bathula Lakshmamma, 60, of Guntur was seriously injured in the incident. At the same time, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has also expressed grief over the incident. He has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. Along with this, it has been announced to provide better medical facilities to the injured.
Crowds thronged to catch a glimpse of Naidu during his road show in Andhra's Nellore on December 28, last Wednesday. Due to this the cement railing present there broke and many people fell into the canal. There was a stampede after the incident.
After the accident, TDP national general secretary and Naidu's son Nara Lokesh wrote in a tweet – The death of TDP workers is a big loss for the party. My condolences to their families. Arrangements have been made for better treatment of the injured. He said- I pray for his recovery. Telugu Desam Party will extend all help to the families of the deceased. They will be given financial assistance of 10 lacks each and free education for their children.
For the past few days, Naidu has been waging a campaign to oppose the YSRCP government in the state. In January, Naidu's son, Nara Lokesh, will embark on a 4,000-km padayatra to engage the state's youth.
