Argentine tennis player Sebastian Baez won the Rio Open title for the second year running. He is the first player to do so. He beat France's Alexander Muller 6-2, 6-3 in the finals. In defending his title in South America's biggest tennis tournament, Baez proved successful.

Baez played brilliantly throughout the match and hit 26 winners. He broke Muller's serve five times and won the match in one hour and 27 minutes. Expressing happiness over his victory after the match, Baez said, "I am very proud of my performance throughout the week. I am very happy with every match."

He further said, "Finals are always different because you want to win the tournament. I try to focus on the match and that is the most difficult part, but my coach and team gave me full support so that I could maintain my focus."

According to the report, this is the 24-year-old player's seventh ATP Tour title, out of which he has won six titles on clay court. Muller, who performed brilliantly in this tournament, had to struggle against Baez from the very beginning.

28-year-old Muller's service was weak in the match. He made three double faults and won only 60 percent of points on his first serve, while this figure was only 32 percent on the second serve. World number 60 player Muller said after the match, "He was physically better than me. I had a great match yesterday, but today was a difficult day. I tried to play aggressively, but he was playing very deep and it was not easy to deal with him."

He further said, "However, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Rio. It was a great week, played great matches and I hope to be back here next year." The Rio Open is the only ATP 500 tournament in South America and the only ATP Tour event in Brazil.
