Search for 7 workers continues on 21st day in Telangana tunnel accident; New technologies being used in rescue operation
Telangana tunnel accident: Search for seven people trapped in SLBC tunnel continues for the 21st consecutive day today. In this operation, personnel of various organizations went inside the tunnel and dug at the locations of the missing people. Human remains search dogs (HRDD) of Kerala Police were also sent inside the tunnel for the search.

Rescue operations for the seven people trapped under the collapsed tunnel of the SLBC in Telangana were continuing for the 21st consecutive day on Friday. In this rescue operation, employees of different organizations went inside the tunnel and dug at the locations of the trapped people. Rescue teams and state-owned mining corporation Singareni Collieries' rat miners worked at the likely locations of the trapped people inside the tunnel. Kerala Police's Human Remains Search Dogs (HRDD) were also used inside the tunnel on Thursday. Robots of the robotics company in Hyderabad were also providing services along with this. Let us tell you that apart from the Army, NDRF, SDRF, HRDD, Singareni Collieries, and Robotics Company, other teams are also taking part in this work.
Notably, on February 22, eight people including engineers and laborers were stuck when the section of the tunnel of the SLBC project caved in. Rescue operations were launched. Subsequently, the body of the operator of the TBM Gurpreet Singh was recovered on March 9 and handed to his family. Aside from this, seven others are stuck in the tunnel, including Manoj Kumar (Uttar Pradesh), Sunny Singh (Jammu and Kashmir), Gurpreet Singh (Punjab), and Sandeep Sahu, Jagta Jess and Anuj Sahu of Jharkhand.
In view of the difficulties being faced in evacuating the people trapped in the tunnel, the Chief Minister of the state Revanth Reddy visited the tunnel on March 2. He also advised to use of robots to ensure the safety of the rescue workers. The help of sniffer dogs is also being taken to locate the missing persons. Also, 110 rescue workers have been deployed to help in the rescue work. However, due to water and mud inside the tunnel, rescue work is becoming a challenge, so the Telangana government has decided to increase the scope of the use of robots.
Not only this, this rescue operation is also being supported by the HRDD of Kerala Police. It is worth noting that on February 22, eight people along with engineers and laborers were trapped in the tunnel after a part of the tunnel collapsed. This, on March 9, the rescue team recovered the body of Gurpreet Singh, a tunnel boring machine operator of a foreign company involved in the tunnel project. Apart from Gurpreet Singh, seven people are still trapped, including Manoj Kumar (Uttar Pradesh), Sunny Singh (Jammu and Kashmir), Gurpreet Singh (Punjab) and Sandeep Sahu, Jagta Jess and Anuj Sahu (Jharkhand).
