SC/ST students in Karnataka evicted from hostels: protesting against poor quality of food

A case of eviction of 25 SC/ST hostel students has come to light in Karnataka's Bellary. These students were protesting against the poor quality of food served in the hostel. On Wednesday evening, these students reached the DC residence with a complaint. This action has been taken on the students the very next day. The opposition has called it an abominable treatment of the students.
Leader of Janata Dal (Secular) and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that this government sheds crocodile tears for Dalits, but students of the SC/ST community are being treated abominably during this government.
Kumaraswamy said that providing good food is the responsibility of the Social Welfare Department and the district administration, but instead of listening to the pleas of the children here, the district commissioner has ordered them to evict them. The people of the department who punished the children should be suspended immediately. There should be an inquiry into this matter.
Congress leader Siddaramaiah said that Sriramulu, the district in charge of Bellary, should be asked whether you supported the action taken against the students with whom you should have stood. Was it right to do so? Your face mask has fallen. Your real face has been exposed.
For the last several days, the students were complaining about the poor quality food served in the hostel. Even after complaining several times, when the quality of food did not improve, the students reached the DC residence at 10 pm on 25 January. Seeing the students carrying buckets of chicken curry, the DC angrily chased the students away.
The next morning the students going outside the DC's residence were instructed to evict them from the hostel, after which this action has been taken on the students. Now the students have lodged a complaint against Malapati in Bengaluru with the Chief Secretary of the state.
