Jaipur. The children of the pre-primary year brought alive the story of Lord Krishna’s birth and his teachings through a series of beautiful presentations. The occasion was the Janmashtami celebration organised for the students of Jayshree Periwal International School, Pre-Primary Years Programme (PYP), in which the children participated with great enthusiasm.
The cultural program included devotional songs, classical dance performances depicting episodes from Lord Krishna's life, and a short drama highlighting the significance of Janmashtami. The highlight of the event was the traditional Dahi Handi , which filled the atmosphere with excitement and cheer.
Students enthusiastically formed human pyramids to break the Dahi Handi, symbolising the playful and mischievous nature of Lord Krishna. Principal Ms. Jaya Singh addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of Janmashtami as a time to reflect on the values that Lord Krishna espoused i.e. devotion, bravery, duty and love. Celebrations like these are significant for IB learning as a way to be connected one’s cultural roots.
