Scam in the purchase of 1000 low-floor buses in Delhi: LG approves CBI probe; AAP said - we need an educated Lieutenant Governor
The Delhi government, which is facing the investigation of the liquor scam, is now accused of corruption in the purchase of low-floor buses. LG VK Saxena on Sunday approved a CBI probe into the case. The complaint was lodged by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on June 9.
In the complaint, the Transport Minister of Delhi was accused of corruption in the tender, procurement and appointment of the chairman of the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) committee. However, last year the tender for bus purchase was cancelled following a complaint.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in response to the CBI inquiry said, 'LG himself is facing many serious allegations of corruption. To divert attention, they are doing such things. Till now the investigations against CM, Deputy CM and Health Minister have not yielded any result. He has now filed a complaint against the fourth minister. He should first answer the corruption charges against him.
AAP also said that these buses were never purchased and tenders were cancelled. Delhi needs more educated LG. This guy has no idea what he is signing.
BJP MLA Vijender Gupta had alleged that in July 2019, the Delhi government had committed a scam of five thousand crore rupees in the purchase and maintenance of 1,000 low-floor buses. The contract of maintenance has also been given to the bus supplying company which is wrong. The maintenance contract will also come into force as soon as the buses hit the roads, while the buses should have a warranty of three years.
During this, no money is to be paid for maintenance in case of disturbances. A report was submitted by a three-member committee on the instructions of the then Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal. The committee had found loopholes in the Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) and recommended its elimination.
There is a tussle between AAP and BJP in Delhi since August 19. In fact, the CBI raided Manish Sisodia's house on August 19 for the first time in Delhi regarding the excise policy. The raid lasted for about 14 hours, after which the CBI registered a case in this case under the PMLA Act. BJP alleges that this liquor scam is of Rs 2,000 crore.
However, the CBI made big claims regarding the scam. According to the investigating agency, its script was written in Mumbai, not Delhi. The name of the former CEO of Mumbai's event management company has come to the fore in preparing it.
