Sarfaraz Khan is set to be sacked from the Indian team without being given a chance in the India-Bangladesh Test series. According to the most recent rumor, Ajit Agarkar, Team India's chief selector, wants him to compete in the home Irani Cup. Sarfaraz recently shone in the Duleep Trophy before joining the Indian team for their maiden Test match in Chennai. He was not named to the Chepauk starting XI following his Test debut against England earlier this year. The reason for this was KL Rahul's return, and now that the batting lineup has been determined, Sarfaraz will be freed for the Irani Trophy.

In fact, a TOI report quoted a source as saying that India's chief selector Ajit Agarkar wants Sarfaraz to be released from Team India to allow him to play in the Irani Cup, barring a last-minute injury at the nets or fitness issues of any of the main batsmen of the Indian cricket team. It takes about an hour to reach Lucknow from Kanpur, so he can leave for Lucknow even after the Kanpur Test starts.

According to the report, Ajit Agarkar is keen to send the young batsman to play domestic cricket. Since the Indian batting order is fit and fine, there is no need to keep Sarfaraz Khan on the bench. He will be allowed to participate in the Irani Cup so that the Irani Trophy can help him develop as a batsman.

The Mumbai vs Rest of India match will start on October 1. While the India vs Bangladesh second Test in Kanpur will start on September 27. This means that he will have time to travel to Kanpur and since Lucknow and Kanpur are nearby. So, he can easily leave once the test match starts.
