Sandhya Devanathan will be the new head of Meta India
Sandhya Devanathan will be the new head of Meta India: will handle her post from January 1, 2023, and has been with Meta since 2016
Facebook's parent company Meta has appointed Sandhya Devanathan as the new head and vice president of its India business. Devanathan will assume her post on January 1, 2023. Reporting for Sandhya will be from Dan Neary, Meta's Vice President for the APAC region.
Devanathan has been with Meta since 2016 and has been helping the company grow its business in Singapore and Vietnam. Apart from this, she was also working on the company's e-commerce launch in South East Asia.
Sandhya is also currently an executive sponsor for Meta Women@APAC and serves as the global lead for the gaming industry Play Forward. In addition, he is also on the global board of Pepper Financial Services.
After completing engineering at Andhra University in 1998, Sandhya Devanathan did MBA from Delhi University. She went to Oxford University's Said Business School in 2014 for a course in leadership.
Recently, WhatsApp's India head Abhijit Bose and Meta India's public policy director Rajeev Agarwal resigned from their posts. Shivnath Thakral, Director of WhatsApp Public Policy in India, has now been made Director of Public Policy for all Meta brands in India.
Meta Platforms Inc. has fired 11,000 of its employees this month. For the first time in the company's 18-year history, such a large number of employees have been retrenched. The company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the removal of employees. He attributed this to the decline in revenue due to wrong decisions.
