S Jaishankar spoke on China-Pakistan in UNSC: Said- multilateral forums are being misused to save terrorism

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar targeted China and Pakistan in an open debate at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Wednesday. He said that multilateral platforms are being misused to justify and protect terrorism.
According to reports, Jaishankar's remarks were specifically pointing to China. Which stopped several times the efforts of India and America to include Pakistan-based terrorists like Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar in the United Nations Terror List.
He said the conflict has created such a situation that it cannot normally be put on the multilateral platform. When the world is coming together on the challenge of terrorism. Even then multilateral forums are being misused to justify and protect criminals.
By the end of December this year, India will complete two years as an elected member of the 15-member United Nations Security Council (UNCS). Prior to this, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reached the United Nations on Tuesday to chair two anti-terrorism meetings.
India assumed the monthly rotating presidency of the Security Council on December 1. This is the second time, after August 2021, that India is chairing the council during its two-year term as an UNCS member.
Jaishankar said that reform is the need of the hour. I am confident that the Global South in particular shares India's determination to persevere. We all know that the question of equal representation and an increase in the membership of the Security Council has been on the agenda of the UNGA for the last three decades. While the debate on reforms has turned into absurdity, the real world meanwhile is turning into a farce.
He said that we have called a meeting here to discuss the effectiveness of multilateral institutions created more than 75 years ago. The question before us is how they can be improved. The international system that the world has experienced in recent years. The rising tension on him has led to a demand for change. He said that cooperation is needed to deal with all these.
The External Affairs Minister also said that the situation is no better when it comes to climate action and climate justice. Instead of addressing the relevant issues at the appropriate forum, we have seen attempts to divert attention and mislead.
