RSS march at 45 places in Tamil Nadu: Permission from police after SC order
The Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) is conducting path sanchalan (march) at 45 places in Tamil Nadu. This march started at 4 pm and ended around 6 pm. Due to this, the police have made strict security arrangements. Tamil Nadu DGP C Silendrababu said that on the orders of the court, RSS was allowed to march at 45 places in the state.
Explain that the RSS had requested to take out the route march in October 2022, but the Tamil Nadu Police did not allow it. The police had argued that clashes could happen during the march.
In fact, in September 2022, a month before the Sangh sought permission from the police to march, the Central Government banned the Islamic organization Popular Front of India. Police said that the atmosphere is not right now, if the RSS route march were to take place, then in some parts of the state there could be attacks on the people involved in the march.
After this, the RSS filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking permission to march. A single bench of the court had allowed the union to march at three places - Cuddalore, Perambalur and Kallakurichi. After this, the Sangh took out a march on 6 November 2022, during which no untoward incident took place.
The RSS then approached a division bench of the Madras High Court, which set aside the single bench order allowing the Sangh to march across the state. The state government challenged this order of the division bench in the Supreme Court, but the court rejected the appeal of the government and upheld the decision of the division bench of the Madras High Court.
