There was heavy rain before the toss. But after some time the rain stopped. But the outfield had become so wet that it was not possible to hold the match there. In such a situation the match did not take place. After which Gavaskar got angry and scolded the South African Cricket Board. He said on Star Sports, 'Proper arrangements were not made to cover the field. If the ground had been covered and the rain had stopped, it would have been possible to conduct the match, but the ground was not covered properly. Due to this, the outfield became wet and the match could not start.
Gavaskar further said that every cricket board gets a lot of money, if they say that they do not get it, then they are lying. The Indian legend further said, 'I agree that they will not have as much money as BCCI. But every board has the money to buy covers to cover the ground completely.
