Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy was the most successful bowler in the 5-match T20 series against England with a total of 14 wickets. He was also selected as the Player of the Series for this. Given his excellent performance, he has now been added to the Indian team for the upcoming ODI series against England. Information in this regard was given by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday evening.

The Indian team for the series of ODIs with England was announced beforehand, and in that, Varun Chakravarthy's name hadn't been mentioned. But at present, he is part of India's national team. He even joined a practice session with India's national team in Nagpur. Varun Chakravarthy hasn't played for India in ODIs yet. For the first time, he is part of India's team for this format. In such a case, the odds of him getting a chance in India's Champions Trophy have increased.

Varun Chakravarthy represented in 23 List-A cricket matches to date, with 59 wickets at an economy of 4.28 and 14.13. In 6 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy games for Tamil Nadu, 18 wickets at an economy of 4.36 and an average of 12.16, and at a position of being the tournament's second-best bowler, took him down.

A three-match ODI series is to be played between India and England before the Champions Trophy. The first match of the ODI series between the two teams will be played in Nagpur on February 6, the second in Cuttack on February 9, and the third in Ahmedabad on February 12.
