Reliance Industries's net profit up 19% to Rs 19,299 crore in fourth quarter, JIO profit up 13%

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) announced the results of Q4FY23 i.e. the fourth quarter (January-March) on Friday (April 21). The company's net profit year-on-year (YoY) increased by 19.10% to Rs 19,299 crore. This is the company's highest-ever quarterly net profit.
In the same quarter last year, the company registered a net profit of Rs 16,203 crore. In the previous quarter i.e. Q3FY23, the net profit was 15,792 crores. Accordingly, it increased by 22.21% in the fourth quarter as compared to the third quarter. The company's revenue increased by 2.8% to Rs 2.13 lakh crore in Q4. It was Rs 2.07 lakh crore in the same period of the last financial year.
The company's Ebitda increased to Rs 38,440 crore for the quarter as against Rs 31,366 crore in the year-ago quarter. At the same time, the company's operating profit in the previous quarter was Rs 37,247 crore. The operating margin stood at 18.05%, compared to 16.2% in the December quarter and 15.1% in the corresponding quarter last year. Net profit margin stood at 8.9% for the quarter, as against 7.4% in the December quarter and 7.7% in the corresponding quarter last year.
On the other hand, the net profit of Reliance Group's telecom company Jio (JIO) increased by 13% on an annual (YoY) basis to Rs 4,716 crore. The company registered a net profit of Rs 4,173 crore in the same quarter last year. In the previous quarter i.e. Q3FY23, the net profit was 4,638 crores. That is, Jio's net profit has increased by 1.7% on a quarterly basis.
Jio's income from the value of services increased to Rs 27,539 crore in the fourth quarter. It stood at Rs 24,602 crore in the corresponding quarter (Q4FY22) of last year. Whereas in the last quarter (Q3FY23) it was Rs 27,055 crore.
The company's revenue increased by 12% to Rs 23,394 crore in Q4. It was Rs 20,901 crore in the same period of the last financial year. At the same time, the company's revenue in the December quarter was Rs 22,998 crore. Accordingly, the company's revenue in Q4 has increased by 1.7% on a quarterly basis. Sales grew 11.9% on a year-on-year basis and 1.7% on a quarter-on-quarter basis.
The company's operating profit for the quarter increased by 16% to Rs 12,210 crore as against Rs 10,554 crore in the year-ago quarter. At the same time, the company's operating profit in the last quarter was Rs 12,009 crore. The company's operating margin stood at 52.2%, the same as in the December quarter.
