Recruitment of sweepers postponed in Rajasthan: In view of the opposition of Valmiki society, the government issued orders
The Rajasthan government has postponed the recruitment of 13 thousand 184 sanitation workers for 176 urban bodies (Municipal Corporation, Municipality and Municipal Council) of the state till further orders. Although the applications for this recruitment had not started yet, after the protest of Valmiki Samaj, the controversy had increased, due to which the recruitment has been stopped.
Hridesh Kumar, director of the Directorate of Autonomous Governance, after issuing the order late this evening, has postponed the process of these recruitments till further orders. Although the reasons have not been clarified in these orders, but sources say that the opposition of Valmiki Samaj and the strike of the cleaning workers in many cities including Jaipur are being considered as the reason for this.
For recruitment to these posts, the government was seeking online applications from May 15, which were to be filled by June 16. After receiving the applications, they were to be scrutinized and interviews were to be conducted for them. For this, a committee had to be formed at everybody level, which would interview the applicants. Earlier, when recruitment was done in the year 2018, it was done through a lottery. After scrutiny of the applications, a lottery was drawn for the eligible applications, in which joining was given to the successful applicants.
The biggest opposition of Valmiki Samaj to this recruitment is the reservation system. The people of the society say that recruitment should be done giving priority to the Valmiki community and not on the basis of the reservation system. Recently, the Samyukta Valmiki Samaj in Jaipur had also warned the government that there should be no reservation of posts for ST, OBC or other classes.
