Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on his last day. In the post, he expressed gratitude to the government, stakeholders, and his colleagues for their support and contribution to him (Das) during his tenure.
In a social media post shared on Tuesday, Das thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting him with the role of RBI Governor and providing guidance and encouragement during his tenure. Das wrote, "I thank all the stakeholders in the financial sector and in the economy; experts and economists; industry bodies and associations; organizations in the agriculture, cooperative & service sectors for their inputs and policy suggestions."
He also expressed gratitude to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and highlighted the strong fiscal-monetary coordination during his tenure. He said, "Heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her constant support and backing. The fiscal-monetary coordination was at its best and helped us to deal with the multiple challenges during the last six years."
Das acknowledged the inputs and suggestions received from stakeholders from various sectors including financial, agriculture, cooperative, and service industries. He appreciated experts, economists, and industry bodies for their valuable contributions to policymaking.
In his message, Das also congratulated the RBI team for their collaborative efforts in steering through the uncertain global economic environment filled with unprecedented shocks. "A BIG thank you to the entire Team RBI. Together, we successfully navigated an exceptionally difficult period of unprecedented global shocks. May the RBI grow even taller as an institution of trust and credibility. My best wishes to each one of you," he added.
During the farewell of Shaktikanta Das, his tenure is recalled in guiding the Indian economy during turbulent times, starting with the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic uncertainties.
