Actor Ranveer Singh has sought 2 weeks' time from Mumbai Police in the nude photoshoot case. In this case, the Mumbai Police called the actor for questioning on August 22. However, no statement has come from the police side so far.
Ranveer did a nude photoshoot for Paper magazine on July 22. An FIR was lodged against Ranveer by an NGO in Mumbai at Chembur police station after the pictures surfaced on social media.
The NGO had said that Ranveer has hurt and insulted the sentiments of women with his nude photos. Therefore, his photo should be removed from Twitter and Instagram. There was also a demand for his arrest. A case was registered against Ranveer under sections 509, 292, 293 of the IPC, section 67A of the IT Act.
After the complaint was registered, the Mumbai Police had sought 48 hours' time. After this, a case was registered against Ranveer. There is a provision of imprisonment for 5 years under section 292 of IPC and 3 years under section 293. At the same time, Ranveer can also be sentenced to 5 years under IT Act 67A.
Ranveer had said in an interview after the photo shoot- 'It is very easy for me to be physically naked. I have been naked in some of my performances. You can see my soul in them. How naked is she? I can take off all my clothes in front of thousands of people. I don't mind, but the people present there will be a little uncomfortable.
