Ranji Trophy 2024: Hanuma Vihari left the captaincy of Andhra after one match, this reason came to light

Round 2 of Ranji Trophy 2024 is underway. Meanwhile, shocking news has come to light. After just one match this season, Indian all-rounder Hanuma Vihari has resigned from the captaincy of the Andhra team. In his place, Ricky Bhui has been made the captain for the remaining tournament.

Speculation following Hanuma Vihari's departure from the captaincy was rife. However, he has stated unequivocally that he has given up his captaincy to focus on hitting. After the opening game of the season ended in a draw with Bengal, Hanuma Vihari resigned as captain. Ricky Bhui has been named Andhra's captain for the remainder of the Ranji Trophy season as a result. In the Group B encounter against Mumbai, he made it to the starting eleven.

After missing out on playing for India in a match against England in Birmingham in 2022, Vihari is now focused on regaining his spot in the Test squad. In his lone innings, he scored 51 runs in the inaugural Ranji match played at Visakhapatnam. Last season, he captained Andhra and took the team to the quarter-finals.

Last season, he had scored 490 runs in 14 innings at an average of 35 including two half-centuries. After this, he played for South Zone in the Duleep Trophy and Irani Cup for the Rest of India against Saurashtra.
