Rajinikanth has called Kantara a masterpiece of Indian cinema. Obviously, the film is being praised everywhere since its release. Recently Kantara has also become the Indian film to get the best rating on IMDb.

It was first released only in the Kannada language, later seeing the tremendous performance of the film, the makers released the film on 14 October in Hindi, Telugu and other languages as well. In the Hindi language too, the film has earned Rs 24 crore so far.
Kantara is not only doing wonders at the box office but the film has also left everyone behind in IMDb ratings. It has become India's best film with a rating of 9.4 on IMDb. Earlier, number one was occupied by KGF 2 in terms of IMDb rating.
