After recovering from a finger injury, Sanju Samson has been allowed by the BCCI Center of Excellence (COE) to reassume his full-time leadership role of wicket-keeping as well as captaincy.

Sanju Samson has thus far played as the sole batsman from the current IPL season, while Riyan Parag captains the franchise. Samson has been cleared following the medical team's detailed assessment of his fitness.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been cleared by the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) to resume wicketkeeping after recovering, the franchise said. Samson was cleared after undergoing an intensive examination of his physical fitness by the medical team.

Sanju Samson's first match as captain will be against Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Saturday. Guwahati's hometown hero Riyan Parag led the team in Samson's absence in the first three matches of the tournament. Meanwhile, Samson only batted for his team and scored 99 runs in all three matches.

"The franchise is excited about Samson's progress and is looking forward to seeing him play behind the stumps again and lead the team. If there are any further updates, they will be shared in time." Rajasthan Royals' first two home matches of the season were played at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings on March 26 and March 30 respectively. Samson's return also indicates that they will play at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, which will prove to be Rajasthan Royals' fortress for the remaining home matches.

Under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals lost the first two matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders by 44 runs and eight wickets respectively but registered his first win as captain with a narrow six-run victory over Chennai Super Kings.
