Rajasthan MLAs have gone hi-tech, now they don't travel in roadways buses
Rajasthan Roadways: MLAs elected from the Kotputli assembly constituency after 1998 did not use roadway buses.
A few days ago, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kishanrao Bagde traveled by train from Jaipur to Barmer. He did not even arrange a special coach for this. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma travelled from Jaipur to Jodhpur by train. Similarly, Roadways have also reserved seat number two in ordinary buses for MLAs for years, but nowadays MLAs have gone hi-tech and now they do not travel in ordinary roadway buses but in luxury SUVs.
Now, though the MLA's seat is vacant, provision for reserved seats for MLAs is not being made in ordinary new buses on roadways. Arrangements are being made to keep the reserved seat vacant in luxury buses when the MLA makes a booking, but MLAs face difficulty in travelling in AC and luxury buses of roadways plying on Jaipur-Delhi route as they do not stop here. Whereas the MLAs are neither travelling by ordinary buses nor have to keep the seats vacant.
MLAs elected from Kotputli assembly constituency after the year 1998 did not travel by roadway buses. Congress' Ramchandra Rawat in 1993 and BJP's Dr. RS Gaur, MLA elected in 1998, used to travel in roadways buses and used reserved seats. But after this, MLA Subhash Sharma elected in 2003, Ramswaroop Kasana elected in 2008, Congress MLA Rajendra Yadav in 2013 and 2018 did not travel on reserved seats in roadways buses.
The government has also arranged government vehicles for MLAs. If the MLA is in the constituency, then there is a provision of a government car facility. The MLA also draws a lump sum amount for a private car. Other than that, MLAs have their own resources too. Therefore, MLAs are using more and more private resources. If they travel in roadway buses, then they will be able to know the problems of the passengers. What problems do passengers face in buses? This will open the way to their solution.
The old MLAs also are the reason for which the roadways keep a seat reserved for the MLA. Earlier, when in all the areas there were no railway facilities, the MLAs used to say that whenever they travel to any place, they don't get a seat in the roadways buses. On this, a seat was reserved in the name of MLA. Since then, this arrangement continues. Old MLAs also traveled in buses.
