Rajasthan: Now wasting water in Rajasthan can cost people heavily. The Rajasthan government will impose fines on those who misuse water. The state government's water supply department has issued an order in this regard. On the other hand, even after imposing a fine, if someone continues to misuse water, then the tap connection of his house will be cut.

According to the order, if water is used in addition to domestic work, for washing vehicles, construction work, and restaurants, then a fine of one thousand rupees will be imposed on the consumer. If there is a leakage of water in a consumer's house and he is not getting it fixed, then also a fine of one thousand rupees will be imposed.
If the misuse continues, an additional fine of Rs 50 a day will be imposed and the domestic connection can also be disconnected.
The responsibility to stop the wastage of this precious resource has been assigned to junior engineers by the department. Junior engineers will have to prevent the misuse of water by regularly monitoring the areas under their charge. A separate connection will have to be taken for commercial work.
It has come to the notice of the Water Supply Department officials that many people running businesses, such as restaurant operators and marriage hall owners, are utilizing domestic connections for commercial work.
Exasperated by incessant complaints, the Water Supply Department's Administrative Secretary Samit Sharma has issued an order to stop the misuse of water. Notices to this effect will be served on those found misusing domestic water connections for commercial purposes, and necessary action will be taken under the Rajasthan Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation Act, 1979.
