Manorama Khedkar, the mother of the controversial probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar, has been held by Pune police. Her arrest stems from an old video of her reportedly threatening farmers with a weapon.

Manorama Khedkar was apprehended in a hotel in Raigad after being on the run. A new First Information Report (FIR) has also been filed against her.

An FIR was previously filed against Manorama Khedkar and her husband Dilip Khedkar in response to a farmer's complaint following the release of the video. The FIR also included sections from the Indian Arms Act.

The two-minute video depicted Puja Khedkar's mother reportedly threatening farmers over a land dispute in Pune's Mulshi tehsil. Manorama Khedkar, armed with a weapon and escorted by bouncers, was spotted disputing with someone regarding ownership of a parcel of property.

Dilip Khedkar, a former government employee, bought 25 acres of property in Mulshi tehsil.

Since the video was released, Pune police have been looking for Dilip Khedkar and his wife. Three police squads were organized to apprehend the pair.

Another contentious video of Manorama Khedkar surfaced recently, in which she was seen fighting with Pune Metro officials and police officers about construction materials stored near her property. The 2022 video was taken outside the Khedkars' residence on Baner Road in Pune.

Puja Khedkar, a 2023-batch IAS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, recently made news after being relocated from Pune to Washim due to unfair demands and allegations about her conduct during her probation term. She is also being investigated for allegedly falsifying handicap documents in order to pass the civil service test.

The Centre has constituted a one-member committee to investigate her actions and selection procedure.
