Protest against Pakistani army in Gilgit-Baltistan

Protests against the Pakistani government and army are taking place in Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan-administered Kashmir (POK). People allege that the Pakistani army is illegally occupying their land. According to the report of the news agency ANI, the Pakistani army has been grabbing the land of the local people for years. But for the first time, people opposed the army on such a large scale.
People are also protesting against the government against illegal taxes, rising inflation and decreasing employment.
Army personnel had arrived in Minawar village of Gilgit region to demolish the property of the local people. After this, the local people raised slogans against the army. People allege that the army is systematically grabbing people's land to earn illegal money.
The people of Minawar village who are opposing the army are also getting the support of the people of the nearby areas. Many protesters say that even if the army shoots them, they will not allow them to occupy the land. A protester said that this is our ancestral film. We will not give it up at any cost.
One protester told – Pakistani army comes and beats us. They encroach on our land. The army has grabbed 12 thousand of canals of our land without giving any compensation. Now we will not give them even an inch of land.
Another protester told – the Pakistani army is forcefully occupying our houses and farms. If any untoward incident happens then Pakistan Army will be responsible for it. The Chief Secretary should come to resolve this issue. Otherwise, we will take this matter to the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
As per reports, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan are facing many problems. Due to illegal taxes, rising inflation and unemployment, anti-Pakistan sentiments are increasing among the people. People have to face police lathis for demanding fundamental rights.
This week, human rights activist Shaukat Ali Kashmiri targeted Pakistan. The president of the United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) said that Pakistan keeps on doing propaganda against India. He always exploits people by taking advantage of their religious sentiments.
