A bipartisan group of 56 lawmakers led by MPs Raja Krishnamurthy and Larry Buchshon has sent a letter to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in this regard. In the letter, the US lawmakers also urged the administration to mark as current all dates for filing employment-based visa applications in the employment-based visa bulletin published by the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
Significantly, the Green Card is officially considered as the right of residence in the US on a permanent basis. At present, a limit of seven percent has been set for each country regarding the allocation of green cards. This is creating a lot of trouble for countries like India, where there are more applicants. The situation has become such that the backlog has reached 195 years.
