Preparations to ban Chinese router company TP-Link in US, questions raised on security, know the whole matter

Due to the increasing tension between the US and China, another Chinese company is facing the threat of ban. This time the case is of TP-Link, a leading Chinese technology company and is known for its router products. TP-Link routers are most commonly used in homes and small businesses in the US. But now due to security concerns, the US government is considering taking strict action against this company.

TP-Link holds a market share of about 65 percent in the US router market. The company's routers are also among the best-selling devices on Amazon. Recently, the brand's AX21 model has been the best-selling product in Amazon's computer router segment. Along with this, 6 models of TP-Link are included in the list of top 10 best-selling routers.

However, despite so much popularity, serious allegations have been made against TP-Link. Federal agencies are looking for flaws in the company's devices, with the help of which foreign entities can carry out cyber attacks.

A recent report by Microsoft claims that TP-Link's devices have been used in ransomware operations. This claim raises serious questions on the company's security system. According to the report, hackers have used TP-Link's compromised devices to carry out cyber attacks.

After this case, several federal agencies started an investigation against TP-Link, including the US Department of Commerce, Defense, and Justice. They have grounds to believe that if there are flaws in the company's devices, they can become a big threat to US national security.

Besides cybersecurity, the pricing strategy of TP-Link has also come under question. The US Department of Justice is trying to find out whether the company is selling its products at a price lower than the cost of production. In case they succeed in proving this, that will amount to a violation of antitrust laws of the US.

It accuses the company of not paying attention to improving the flaws in their products. TP-Link was complained of not doing enough with its router security, making its device easily misused by bad hat hackers.
