Pregnant women leaving Russia, do not want to give birth there in the middle of the war

Between the Russia-Ukraine war, so far more than 5 thousand pregnant women have gone from Russia to Argentina. The 33 women who arrived in Buenos Aires on Thursday were in the last weeks of pregnancy. Actually, these women do not want to give birth to a child in Russia in the midst of war. On the other hand, if their child is born in Argentina, then it becomes easier for the parents to get citizenship.
These Russian women had initially talked about going to Argentina as tourists. However, she later admitted that she is going to get Argentine citizenship for her children for a better future. The exodus of these pregnant women has been named birth tourism.
The big problem is that women are leaving the country after registering their children in Argentina. This is because it gives more freedom than the Russian passport. People who hold an Argentine passport can enter 171 countries around the world visa-free. Whereas through Russian passport only 87 countries can go without a visa.
The Argentine police are constantly raiding gangs that help Russian women get fake passports and enter Argentina. These gangs charge a fee of around Rs 29 lakh for their service. So far the police have not arrested any accused, but cash along with laptops, and immigration documents have been seized during the raid.
Apart from getting away from war, pregnant women are also attracted to Argentina by visa-free entry and good medical services. There is also a website in Russia for offers on accommodation and baby delivery in Argentina. The website offers various packages including personalized birth plans, airport pick-up as well as Spanish language classes and treatment at the best hospitals in Buenos Aires.
