PM Modi's West Bengal tour cancelled: Vande Bharat train may be flagged off through video conferencing

Due to the demise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Hiraba, his visit to West Bengal has been cancelled. However, according to the agency PTI, PM Modi can virtually participate in the programs to be held in Bengal.
Significantly, development projects worth more than Rs 7,800 crore are to be launched in Bengal. Among these, the Vande Bharat Express train connecting Howrah to New Jalpaiguri will be flagged off. Along with this, the Joka-Taratla section of the Purple Line of the Kolkata Metro will also be inaugurated. New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, one of the largest stations of Northeast Frontier Railway, will be redeveloped at a cost of Rs 334.72 crore. International-level facilities will be provided here. This work is to be completed by 2025. Its foundation stone will be laid, as well as the inauguration of 4 rail projects in the state.
The meeting will be attended by the Union Jal Shakti Minister, other Union Ministers who are members of the Council and the Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. During this, the responsibility has been given to the National Ganga Council to reduce the pollution of river Ganga and its tributaries and to look after their rejuvenation.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate 7 sewerage infrastructure projects under the National Mission for Clean Ganga at a cost of over Rs 990 crore. These projects will add more than 200 MLD sewage treatment capacity in West Bengal.
The foundation stone for 5 sewerage projects to be developed under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) at a cost of Rs 1585 crore is to be laid. Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee-National Institute of Water and Sanitation (DSPM - NIWAS) which has been developed at a cost of about Rs 100 crore at Joka, Diamond Harbor Road, Kolkata will be inaugurated.
