PM Modi's mother Heeraben is no more: Modi reached the crematorium with his mother's body and will attend all the scheduled programs after the funeral
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben Modi passed away on Friday morning. She was 100 years old. Heeraben breathed his last at 3:30 am at the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center in Ahmedabad. He was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday late at night after he complained of breathlessness. He also had a complaint of phlegm.
PM Modi reached Ahmedabad at 7:45 am. From there he went directly to brother Pankaj Modi's house in Raisan village of Gandhinagar. The last journey began as soon as he arrived. Modi went to the hearse carrying the body on his shoulder. PM also sat in the hearse. The cremation process started at the cremation ground in Sector 30.
The PMO tweeted and informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend all his scheduled programs after the funeral. He will also launch important projects in Bengal through video conferencing. First, the Prime Minister had to go to Bengal. During the inauguration of the task of Clean Ganga Mission, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar besides the Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand and Jharkhand will also be present.
PM Modi informed about Heeraben's death by tweeting. On Friday morning at 6:20 am, he wrote – The glorious century rests at the feet of God. In mother, I have always felt that trinity, which includes the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless karma yogi and a life committed to values.
Modi further wrote- When I met him on his 100th birthday, he had said one thing, which is always remembered to work with intelligence and live life with purity. Heeraben celebrated his 99th birthday in June. Prime Minister Modi had come to meet him at that time. During that time the PM washed Heeraben's feet and applied water to his eyes.
