PLI: 24 companies making AC-LED lights selected, will invest Rs 3,516 crore
PLI: Components like compressors, copper tubes, and heat exchangers for AC will now be made in the country itself. LED chip packaging for LED lights, metalized film for light management systems, and capacitors will also be manufactured.

24 companies manufacturing air conditioners (ACs) and LED lights have been selected under the Production Based Incentive (PLI) scheme for white goods. These companies have committed to invest Rs 3,516 crore.
The Commerce Ministry said, 38 applications were received in the third round of online application of the PLI scheme. After considering the applications, 18 new companies were selected. These include 10 AC component manufacturers and eight LED light manufacturing companies. They have expressed an investment commitment of Rs 2,299 crore. Apart from this, six existing beneficiary companies have been provisionally selected for upgrading to higher investment categories.
An additional investment of 1,217 crores will be made for this. Overall, 84 companies will come with an investment proposal of 10,478 crores under the scheme for these products. This will make production worth 1,72,663 crores. Under this third round in October 2024, applications from 38 companies were made with an investment proposal of 4,121 crores.
In turn, compressors, copper tubes, and AC heat exchangers will now be manufactured inside the country. The LED light will also receive its LED chip packaging, and the light management system will have metalized film for the capacitors.
