'Plan made to increase the number of women in the Indian Army', the minister gave information on the question asked in the Rajya Sabha

In response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt has told that a plan has been made to increase the number of women in the Indian Army. In fact, Bhatt was responding to a question by CPI MP Santosh Kumar P, when he asked about the number of women in the medical and non-medical cadres of the Indian Army and the government's plan to increase the number of women in the Indian Army.
Giving details about the major initiatives, the Minister of State for Defense said that from July 2022, 20 vacancies have been allotted for women military cadets per year at National Defense Academy, Pune. He said that there are 90 vacancies for women in Short Service Commission, including 10 additional vacancies from June 2023.
Ajay Bhatt said, "Induction of women officers in Artillery units as well as in Remount and Veterinary Corps has been approved from March 2023. He added that the entry of women officers as pilots in Army Aviation will start in June 2021. The enrollment of women in other ranks in the Military Police Corps in the Indian Army began in 2019.
According to the minister, the total number of women in the medical cadre of the Indian Army by July 1, 2023, is 1,212 in the Army Medical Corps (AMC); 168 in Army Dental Corps (ADC); The Military Nursing Service (MNS) has 3,841.
Ajay Bhatt also said that the total number of women officers in the Indian Army (excluding AMC, ADC, and MNS) as on January 1, 2023, is 1,733.
