ICICI Bank: Pradeep Kumar Sinha will replace GC Chaturvedi, who is scheduled to retire as non-executive part-time chairman after business hours on June 30, 2024. Sinha has been a government-nominated director in many major public sector undertakings like ONGC, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, GAIL, etc.

The Reserve Bank of India has approved the appointment of Pradeep Kumar Sinha as part-time chairman of ICICI Bank. Sinha is set to take over the role for a three-year tenure starting July 1, 2024.

GC Chaturvedi, who is slated to retire as non-executive part-time chairman on June 30, 2024, after business hours, will be replaced by Pradeep Kumar Sinha. ONGC, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, GAIL, and other significant public sector enterprises have all nominated Sinha as a director by the government. Notably, he spent roughly 7 years on the board of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) and 6 years on the boards of BPCL and HPCL.

He spent roughly fifteen years working for the ministries of power and oil and gas. He has held positions as Secretary of electricity, Secretary of ports and shipping, Special Secretary of petroleum and natural gas, and Financial Advisor. He is knowledgeable about energy, finance, urban development, infrastructure, and transportation.

According to the ICICI Bank website, Sinha joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1977 after completing his Masters in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics in 1976. He graduated in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He served in Uttar Pradesh, after which he served most of the time in the Government of India and rose to the highest position of Cabinet Secretary. He served as Cabinet Secretary for more than 4 years before moving to the Prime Minister's Office. He retired from there in March 2021 after continuous service to the country for 44 years.
