An accused has been arrested from Telangana for allegedly sending several threatening emails to Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani. Gamdevi police say that the accused has been identified as Ganesh Ramesh Vanapardhi. On Saturday, he was arrested in the case and presented in the court, from where the court sent him to police custody till November 8.

Mukesh Ambani had also received death threats on Saturday (November 4). The accused had demanded a ransom of Rs 400 crore. Police said the accused sent two threatening emails between October 31 and November 1, warning of dire consequences if ignored.

According to the police, the person who sent the threatening email to Ambani has identified himself as Shadab Khan. Earlier, Ambani had received a death threat through email, in which it was said that he would be shot if he did not pay Rs 20 crore.

The accused increased the ransom amount from Rs 200 crore to Rs 400 crore every time a new email was sent. Mumbai Police said the first such threat mail was sent on October 28.

After receiving the email, based on the complaint of Mukesh Ambani's security in-charge, Mumbai's Gamdevi Police has registered a case against an unknown person under Section 387 (threatening to kill a person in order to extort money).

Last year, Mumbai Police had arrested a man from Darbhanga in Bihar for making death threat calls to Ambani and his family members. The accused had also threatened to blow up Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai with a bomb.
