The web browser will potentially be coupled with a new addition known as Agentic Search, although the firm has not announced the date of the release yet has started a waitlist of users that will be able to get additional details before the release. The firm has also released the Deep Research feature that allows users to get in-depth analysis of complex issues.
Perplexity shared a 7-second teaser video on X (formerly Twitter), showing only the new logo animation. No specific information related to the browser was given in the video, but the term "agentic search" has been used, although the company has not yet clarified what new this feature will bring to the users.
Perplexity has also started recruiting new employees for the development of Comet. The company has posted a job for a "Browser C++ Engineer", which will be responsible for creating a Chromium-based browser. Chromium is an open-source browser project developed and maintained by Google. This indicates that the Comet browser will be available for both desktops and smartphones.
