Good access to the Internet and the rapid development of technology are both giving a lot of benefits to people. But it also has another aspect, which is making people victims of fraud. Yes, cybercriminals are coming up with new ways every day to cheat people. Cybercriminals now trap people in their trap in such a dangerous way that by the time people understand, it is too late. Let us know what is the new way of cybercrime and how to avoid it.

Now, among the approved people on the IOC board of directors are Satish Kumar Vadugudi, Marketing Director, and Arvind Kumar, Refinery Director. Five executive directors of the company were also enquired. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited or BPCL's Director Marketing Sukhmal Kumar Jain and the company's Director Refinery S. Khanna also attended the meeting, sources said.

The committee is scouting for a new chief to replace Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, whose one-year extension expires on August 31. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had in June invited applications from engineers, chartered accountants and cost accountants who have a postgraduate management degree from leading institutions and have at least five years experience in a leadership role for the top post at IOC.

Vaidya assumed charge as the chairman of the country's largest oil company on July 1, 2020. He was to retire on August 31, 2022. Basically, cybercriminals have started using the popular social media platform WhatsApp to cheat people. Cybercriminals send PDFs to people on WhatsApp; after which, the moment the person clicks on it to open the PDF, their mobile or another device gets hacked. Thereafter all money is withdrawn from people's bank accounts. On the other hand, a major portion of people have less awareness concerning this crime, which becomes the reason for cyber thugs trapping people very easily in their net.

Basically, in such cases, the cybercriminals first send a PDF to somebody from an unknown mobile number on receipt of WhatsApp. Cybercriminals then force that person to open the PDF by giving some kind of temptation through a call or message. It is in this case, as soon as the person clicks on the PDF, his phone or device gets hacked.

It is a special kind of malware, inserted into the PDF by the cybercriminal who forwards it via WhatsApp. Many times, the links to phishing are in the PDF so that once it is opened, one reaches another page or website. No sooner does a person open such a PDF than all the information present in his phone reaches the thug. Subsequently, cybercriminals easily clear the bank accounts of people. Last year, on August 31, he was to be hanged. But he was given an extension of one year.

Keep yourself safe in this way

  1. To avoid such cyber crime, do not click on any link, message, or PDF received from any unknown number on WhatsApp.
  2. If someone sends any kind of link, message or PDF from an unknown number on WhatsApp and tempts you with any offer or reward, then be careful. This can be a trap.
  3. If you find anything suspicious in the message, link or PDF received on WhatsApp, then without delay block that number and also report it, so that WhatsApp bans that number forever.
  4. Do not share important information like banking details, OTP, PIN, password etc. with any unknown person on WhatsApp.
  5. If you ever become a victim of any kind of cyber crime, then immediately register a complaint on helpline number 1930 and tell about the crime in detail.
