Passenger opened the emergency gate of Indigo flight: Eyewitness claims- BJP MP Tejasvi Surya opened the gate; The flight had to be stopped for two hours
A passenger on an Indigo flight from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli opened the emergency gate. This delayed the flight by 2 hours. An official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said on Tuesday that we have been given complete information on the matter. No compromise was made with safety. A passenger accidentally opened the emergency gate.
Meanwhile, The News Minute website quoted an eyewitness who was on the flight as claiming that Bengaluru South Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya had opened the emergency gate, but the airline did not tell him anything. With Surya, Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai was also there.
The incident took place on December 10 on a flight from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli. The DGCA has ordered an inquiry into the matter. According to Indigo sources, what Tejasvi did was a violation of the airline. The officers asked him to apologize. The BJP MP wrote a letter apologizing for the matter. After this, he was given permission to board the flight again. However, the crew member removed him near the emergency gate and gave him another seat.
An eyewitness told that the flight was about to take off for Tiruchirappalli. Meanwhile, the crew members were briefing the passengers about the safety protocols when Surya suddenly opened the emergency gate. After this, all the passengers were taken down. Everyone was told that air was leaking from the emergency gate, that's why the flight was stopped. After the incident, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) checked the security of the flight. Then the flight took off. During this whole process, the flight was delayed by 2 hours.
