The color of the medal in the Olympics may be different, but its importance for an athlete does not diminish. Britain's Katie Shortman and Lexi Thorpe pair may have missed out on winning the gold medal, but they also created history by winning the silver medal in artistic swimming. Britain has won a medal in this event for the first time. Katie and Lexi also fulfilled their mother's years-old dream with this medal. China's pair Weng and Qinye won the gold medal in this event, while the bronze medal was won by the Netherlands' Brije de Brouwer and Norje Brouwer.

Katie and Lazy are childhood friends. The special thing is that their mothers are also very good friends. In the same event in which Katie and Lazy won medals, 28 years ago their mothers missed qualifying for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics by a very small margin and their dream of winning an Olympic medal was also shattered.

Katie's mother Karen and Lazy's mother Maria are very happy with their daughters winning medals. Karen said, I really feel as if the medal has been won by me and Maria. When both of us could not qualify for the Olympics, we were very sad. Maria said, there is a very good rapport between Katie and Lazy and both are childhood friends. Seeing them reminds us of our days.

The journey to the Paris Olympics was not easy for Katie and Lazy. They had a shortage of funds to prepare for the Paris Olympic Games. Despite this, they did not lose courage. Katie said we did not have good facilities to prepare. However, it is expected that after our medal win, this event will also be given attention in Britain.
