Paris Olympics 2024: The Indian pair of Rohan Bopanna and N Balaji lost to French pair Gael Monfils and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in their first match of the Paris Olympics 2024.
India has faced disappointment in the tennis event at the Paris Olympics. India's hopes were dashed within a day in this event and Indian tennis players had to face defeat.
The Indian pair of Rohan Bopanna and N Balaji lost their opening match of the Paris Olympics 2024. They were defeated at the hands of the French combination of Gael Monfils and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. But the Indian pair went down 5-7, 2-6 in the round one encounter. A little earlier, Sumit Nagar also lost his match. It brought an end to India's campaign in tennis at the Paris Olympics.
The Balaji-Bopanna pair didn't have a good start in the first set of the match. They lost the opening break and fell behind 2-4. Thereafter, the Indian pair came back by breaking the opponent's serve. It was looking like the set would go to a tie-break but the French players broke the Indian pair's serve for the second time in the set and won it in 42 minutes.
Closure for Sumit Nagal, who courted Corentin on the first court earlier, provided a good fight as Nagal lost in a heart-stopping three-setter. Corentin won 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 in a match lasting two hours and 28 minutes.
India's tennis campaign at the Paris Olympics lasted just one day as the men's doubles pair of Sumit Nagal and Rohan Bopanna-N Sriram Balaji were knocked out after losing their respective opening matches against the French players here on Sunday.
