Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will attend the UN's Least Developed Countries (LDC) conference in Qatar. PM Shahbaz will reach Doha on Sunday on a two-day visit at the invitation of Qatar's ruler Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. This UN conference will continue till March 9. It will discuss accelerating sustainable development in the world's least developed countries.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry gave this information on Saturday. Leaders of all the countries participating in the conference will discuss cooperation with each other regarding development. Along with this, better partnerships with developing countries will also be discussed. Apart from this, PM Shahbaz will also hold bilateral talks with leaders of other countries attending the conference.
There are 46 countries on the list of the UN's Least Developed Countries (LDC). Among these, there are 9 countries from Asia including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Myanmar. However, the name Pakistan is not on this list. Least Developed Countries get many concessions from the UN. Along with this, these countries are given priority for help in many areas including economic, and technical.

Dar pointed out that Pakistan needs foreign funding of $5 billion in the fiscal year ending in June to close its financial gap.
Earlier on January 31, 2023, an IMF team led by Nathan Porter reached Pakistan. The meeting of this team was held in two phases with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. During this, Pakistan demanded a loan from the IMF under the bailout package. However, this meeting which lasted for 10 days was inconclusive.
