Pakistan's situation is dire as it fights both terrorism and a serious financial crisis at the same time. The neighbouring nation has discussed stepping up trade relations with India in such a scenario. According to Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar's remarks, Pakistan now desires a shift in its diplomatic approach with India.

According to Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, trade relations with India have ceased since August 2019. Dar promised to give the mending of these relationships careful thought. Dar stated these things in the press conference that followed the Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels. He stressed the importance of establishing trade with India. According to him, businesspeople in Pakistan wish to revive trade with India. According to Dar, Pakistan will seriously consider restoring trade relations with India.

The way Ishaq Dar commented on restoring trade relations with India, it is clear that Pakistan is indicating a change in diplomatic stance towards India. After the Indian government abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution and divided Jammu and Kashmir into Union Territories, Pakistan reduced its diplomatic relations with India. On the other hand, India has already made its stand clear on Jammu and Kashmir. India has said that the entire Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were integral and inseparable parts of the country.

Recently, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on becoming the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Sharif had also thanked PM Modi in his post on Facebook. The Sharif-led coalition government came to power after the February 8 elections. The declining economy is a big challenge for Shehbaz Sharif at the very beginning of his tenure.
