Pakistan's Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari will pay an official visit to the United Arab Emirates on Sunday (July 30) to discuss bilateral relations.
During the visit, the foreign minister will hold a meeting with his United Arab Emirates (UAE) counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Foreign Office spokesperson said in a press statement on Saturday. During this, the entire dimension of bilateral relations between the two countries will be discussed.
In Dubai, Bilawal Bhutto will attend the unveiling ceremony of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's wax statue at Madame Tussauds. Earlier this month, US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Elizabeth Horst had said that there is no quick fix to Pakistan's economic problems.
UAE has been a donor country in the midst of Pakistan's continuous economic crisis. Earlier, in January, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) had withdrawn its USD 2 billion deposits with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in view of Pakistan's tight fiscal position.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier discussed the rollover with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on his visit to the UAE. The UAE President had agreed to eliminate the existing loan of US$2 billion and provide an additional loan of US$1 billion.
