Over 60 NCC cadets have been admitted to the hospital after a suspected case of food poisoning in a camp organized in a college in Kerala, which created a panic situation. This information has come to light from officials.

He said that a camp was organized by the 21 Kerala Battalion NCC in a college in Thrikkakara on Monday evening. A case of food poisoning has come to light in this camp itself.

The students who complained of food poisoning were taken to various hospitals. Many of them were discharged last night.

An official source told PTI that the NCC has ordered a departmental probe into the incident.

Four students complained of uneasiness after eating dinner around 7 pm and the number rose to 40, then later to 60, officials said.

Organizers of the camp rushed all of them to a hospital. Many students left with their parents, who reached the camp after the incident.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against around 10 outsiders for allegedly creating a ruckus in the camp area after news of the incident spread.

Officials said 550 students had attended the 10-day camp which started on December 20. With many students leaving the camp, NCC officials are expected to take a call on Tuesday on whether to go ahead with the camp or not.

Officials said samples of food and water used for cooking have been collected for testing. They told him the exact cause of the poisoning could be ascertained only after the test results were received. It was reported that four students fell sick after having breakfast at a government school in Tandur, Telangana. The students started vomiting and many more students were also affected.

According to the police report, about 95 students consumed the breakfast. The four students were immediately rushed to the hospital, treated, and discharged within a few minutes.
