At the same time, women soldiers will participate as part of the BSF's Camel Contingent and the leader of 144 soldiers of the Navy's contingent will also be women.
Delhi Area Chief of Staff Major General Bhavish Kumar told that under 'Self-reliant India', the army will display much indigenous equipment. The parade will include K-9 Vajra Howitzers, MBT Arjun, Nag Anti-Tank Guided Missile, BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile, Akash Air Defense Missile and Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles.
He informed that the indigenously made Light Combat Helicopter Prachanda will also be a part of the flypast of the Air Force. At the same time, Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv and Advanced Light Helicopter Rudra will also be part of the display. One light combat helicopter will lead the Prachanda formation, while two Apache helicopters and two Advanced Light Helicopter MK-IV aircraft will follow in Teer formation.
For the first time, women have been inducted in the Camel Contingent of the Border Security Force. At the same time, a woman officer will also lead the team of motorcycle riders 'Daredevils' of the Corps of Signals. This will also be the first time.
The Indian Army issued a statement saying that the chief guest of the parade would be the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and the contingent of the Egyptian Army would also march past in the parade. This year the Army will be represented by Mounted Columns of 61 Cavalry, 9 Mechanized Columns, 6 Marching Contingents and a fly-past by helicopters of Army Aviation. 3 Param Vir Chakra awardees and 3 Ashok Chakra awardees will also participate in the parade this year.
There will be 16 marching contingents from Armed Forces, Central Para Military Forces, Delhi Police, NCC, NSS, Pipes and Drums Band. 27 tableaux will be presented by various states, departments and armed forces. DRDO will display a tableau this year titled 'Securing Nation with Effective Surveillance, Communication and Neutralizing Threats'.
