Online Scam Alert: Dialing Uber Helpline number through Google Search proved costly, person cheated of Rs 5 lakh

Do you also search helpline numbers for customer care service through Google search? If yes, then this news may surprise you.

Recently a new case related to online scams (Online Scam Alert) has come to light. One person found it difficult to search the Uber cab customer care number on Google. A young man fell prey to an online scam and lost Rs 5 lakh.

Such a case has come to light from an FIR accessed by news agency IANS. It is being told that a young man named Pradeep Chaudhary had taken an Uber cab to Gurugram.

Instead of Rs 205, Rs 318 was taken from the young man. Which he wanted to talk to the customer care number he had searched on Google.

The customer care number got redirected to some other number. After this, the person calling himself a customer care officer got this young man to download an app.

The Paytm app was opened for refund and thus the bank was defrauded of Rs 5 lakh.

Regarding this matter, the same question might have come to your mind how can scammers control Google search? Actually, Google allows its users to add information to the search results.

Scammers can take advantage of this service and change the official business number. Exactly as has happened in this case. Not only this, until such a fake number is reported, it remains on the Google Business page.

The helpline number related to any service can be accessed only from the official website of the company. However, you need to work more carefully.

If you are asked by any customer care officer to download any kind of app, try to avoid it.

Along with this, even if the customer care officer sends a link and asks you to click on it, do not do so.
