Indian Army Lt Gen C.B. Bonappa said on Sunday that one lakh Agniveers have been included in the force so far. He said that about 70 thousand of them have been deployed in various units. He also mentioned that about 50 thousand vacancies have been released in the year 2024-25 and the recruitment process is going on.

General Bonappa said that the scheme was started in June 2022. We had the first batch, which was recruited between December 2022 and January 2023. About one lakh Agniveers have been recruited in the army. These include about 200 women and about 70 thousand have already been sent to various battalions. Where they are performing very well. This also includes about 100 women policemen.

He informed that about 50 thousand vacancies were released this year in 2024-25. The recruitment process is going on. Lieutenant General Bonappa said that all those recruited are performing all operational tasks and other professional duties like any other soldiers. They wear the same uniform and perform the same duty.

Taking an important step with the aim of strengthening the position of the Agniveers recruited earlier, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Border Security Force (BSF) announced special recruitment benefits for them. CISF Director General Neena Singh said that the force has made all arrangements for the recruitment of former Agniveers.

CISF said on X, all arrangements have been made for the recruitment of Agniveers. CISF Director General Neena Singh said that ten percent of constable posts have been reserved for Agniveers and they will be given relaxation in the physical efficiency test. They also have age relaxation. There is five years age relaxation for the first batch and three years age relaxation for the later batch.
