NPCI: Biggest cyber attack on bank payment system, work halted in 300 banks of the country

The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has informed about a major cyber attack on the payment system of the country. Due to this cyber attack, the payment system of about 300 banks in the country has been affected and work has come to a standstill, although only small banks have been affected by this cyber attack. There is no update about the big banks at the moment.

NPCI itself has given information about this cyber attack on the social media platform X. NPCI has said that information about the ransomware attack was received from many banks, due to which these local banks had to stop their work.

According to NPCI, this attack has happened on a company named C-Edge Technologies which provides technical support to all these banks. NPCI has currently temporarily banned this company. NPCI has said that the customers of banks using the services of C-Edge Technologies will not be able to make payments for some time. According to NPCI, to prevent a negative impact on the entire payment system of the country, these 300 banks have been kept out of the payment network for the time being.
